If you login to your Mossy Earth account, you'll find the option to change your contribution in the Account tab.

If you are set up with PayPal, it's unfortunately not that straightforward to change your contribution. The simplest option is to switch payment methods to either card or direct debit in the Billing information section in the Account tab, after which you can update your contribution directly in the account. If you prefer to continue using PayPal, you'll have to cancel your current membership and then create a new one at the higher amount. This can also be done in the Account tab and it will not affect your accumulated impact.

If you login to your Mossy Earth account and go to the Account tab, you'll find the option to change your payment method by clicking on Details in the Billing information section.

As Mossy Earth operates as a business, not a charity or NGO, contributions to us can’t be considered as donations for tax purposes and we can’t provide donation statements. You can read more about our approach to this subject in our Organisation Ethos.

If you simply need proof of payment, please reach out to team@mossy.earth and let us know for which payments you would like to have the receipts.

Our app is not available in any appstore. But if you login to your Mossy Earth account, you'll be able to install the app through the Account tab.

First time you comment on an update you'll be asked to set a display name and a username, which will be visible to others, as well as accept the terms of commenting. If you wish to change your display name or username at a later point, you can do that in the Account tab.

How do I start commenting on the updates in the account?

If you login to your Mossy Earth account and go to the Your Impact tab, you'll find the option to receive profile contributions. If you click there, you'll be able to turn on your public profile which you can share with others. Through that profile others will also be able to make contributions to your impact.

How can I share my impact with others and receive contributions to my impact?

If you login to your Mossy Earth account, you'll find the option to pause your membership in the Account tab. While your membership is paused, there won't be any recurring charges for it, but you'll still be able to contribute to selected projects in the Fund Extra tab whenever you like.

If you login to your Mossy Earth account, you'll find the option to cancel your membership in the Account tab. After you've cancelled your membership, you'll still be able to access your account and contribute to selected projects through the Fund Extra tab.

If you have cancelled your membership and would like your data to be deleted as well, please write us an email to team@mossy.earth and well sort it out for you. Do bear in mind that all the data we've saved about your account and membership, including information about the impact you've accumulated so far, will be permanently deleted.

How do I permanently delete my account and data?

At the moment, we don't have any internship or Master's opportunities. When such a position is available, we would advertise it on our jobs page, across our social platforms and in the membership account.

Do you offer internships or Master's projects?

Unfortunately, most of our current projects don't lend themselves to volunteering. The work is usually taken care of by professionals locally, which is both more efficient and gives a small boost to the local economy. Something we also like to avoid is having people travel to be at our projects, as that would be counterproductive. But on the rare occasions we do have the opportunity to organise volunteering days, we tend to inform about it through our socials or our membership.

Studying anything like nature restoration, ecology, conservation, environmental science, or biology is a great place to start. Add to that as much hands-on experience as possible through volunteering or interning at a local wildlife or conservation centre, and you'll have a solid foundation for a career in rewilding.

What should I study to work with rewilding?

One of the ways we can maximise our impact, is by keeping our offer simple. As such, we partner with businesses in just three ways:

Team membership: Make it a more personal experience for your team by giving your employees their own membership accounts to follow their impact.

Business base membership: Create one membership account for your business as a whole where you can follow the total impact of your contribution.

Gift membership: Gift a 1 year membership to a client or customer as a thank you, Christmas gift or reward for a particular milestone.

Unfortunately, we don’t offer any other form of B2B partnership or collaboration.

How can my business collaborate or partner with Mossy Earth?

When we have capacity for new projects, we carefully evaluate available opportunities to find the ones that best fit our objectives and priorities. In our Rewilding Methodology and Project Development Protocol you can read more about what we look for in a project.

What if I have an idea for a new project?

We are a social enterprise incorporated as a private limited company in the United Kingdom with a for profit structure. In other words, we are a business and the membership is a payment for a service we provide, not a donation. You pay us to rewild nature, and we do our best to make sure that your money has the biggest possible impact. To not leave room for any doubts, we also do our utmost to show you how we do it. Our main sources of funding are the individuals and businesses who contribute to our work through our memberships. In addition to this we get some revenue through our YouTube channel and our rewilding course, while only a small fraction of our total funding is made up of contributions we receive from outside of the memberships.

We follow what we call the 80/20 rule. This means that of the funds we receive, 80% goes directly to our projects and 20% to Mossy Earth’s running costs. The breakdown of the 80% is detailed in our quarterly reports, while the remaining 20% covers the salaries of non-project related staff, our tech infrastructure, and other non-project related expenses. The funds we get from YouTube and the proceeds from our rewilding course are exceptions to the 80/20 rule, as they are fully allocated towards Mossy Earth's running costs.

We have planted hundreds of thousands of trees to date and will continue to plant trees moving forward. But there are also many other ways to restore forests that are often overlooked, such as natural regeneration, understory restoration, and grazing management. With a focus on improving the state of ecosystems and by using a diverse set of methodologies, we work to both increase forest cover and improve the health and resilience of existing forests.

Our main goal is to ensure that our members' support has the greatest possible impact. To achieve this, we have developed a specific process based on which we select and implement our projects. We've explained our approach in more detail in our Rewilding Methodology and Project Development Protocol.

How does Mossy Earth select the projects?

The work is done by professionals locally, with varying degrees of involvement of our own team. In some projects we work together with our partners, helping them fund on the ground activities, while other projects are led by our own biologists.

Each project has to go through a careful evaluation before being selected, after which we use a results-based approach to set clear objectives for ecosystems and species. These objectives are outlined in the management plans, along with activities, timelines, and expected outputs, as well as other important aspects, such as cultural considerations and wildlife ethics. The management plans also includes the monitoring strategy, which details how and when the progress towards set objectives will be monitored.

How is the impact of the projects ensured?

We see being transparent as an essential part of our mission, which is why we have built an infrastructure to enable our members to verify how we spend their money and how our work translates to impact. In our Transparency dashboard you'll find an overview of the ecosystems and species we've impacted, the most recent quarterly membership reports, and complete lists of our project actions and costs. We also use a variety of formats and channels to provide regular project updates, some of which are available to members only. In the account our members can discuss project updates with the team and community, and even book a call with one of the team if they want.

How can I keep track of what's being done?

Carbon sequestration is the result of living organisms capturing carbon over time, which means that its effectiveness depends on the health and longevity of ecosystems. Yet, we often see carbon offsetting schemes plant non-native, monoculture forests that aren't sustainable in the long-term. Carbon offsetting pledges are also frequently used to substitute necessary carbon emissions reductions, which means that carbon is still being released into the atmosphere, with the hopes that the pledged interventions will one day sequester it.

So at Mossy Earth, we've decided to focus on improving the state of ecosystems, while carbon sequestration is simply a co-benefit of our work. As such, we don't offer carbon offsetting or issue carbon credits. Instead, we work to establish wild and resilient ecosystems that we believe increase our chances of creating a stable carbon sink that will continue to sequester carbon for years to come.

Does Mossy Earth offer carbon offsetting?

Providing advice on local conservation and rewilding interventions requires proper consideration of the specific circumstances in each case. We at Mossy Earth don't have the capacity to offer such a service, but we highly recommend contacting an ecologist in your area who can assess the best course of action for your project.

Can Mossy Earth advice me on how to rewild an area?

It's great that you want to start your own rewilding project! Providing expertise or funding to small scale projects is not a service we have the capacity to offer. But a good starting point would be contacting a local ecologist to get advice on the best approach for your land. We also recommend finding out if there are any local rewilding groups that might want to get involved. If you're in need of funding we suggest creating a crowdfunding campaign for your project. Setting up a YouTube channel to track your progress and promote your crowd funding campaign might also be helpful and provide a potential revenue stream in itself.

To help people such as yourself, we've also created an online course that provides a solid foundation for getting involved in rewilding. The course includes a module on how to plan a rewilding project, so it might be a good place for you to get started.

Could Mossy Earth help me rewild a small plot of land (up to 5 ha)?

By becoming a member or signing up your business, you can contribute directly to our projects and follow along our work more closely.

Getting more people to join another effective way of increasing our impact, so purchasing a gift membership or having someone sign up using your referral code is a great way to support us. And don't forget telling your employer about our business membership as well! 

The easiest and most affordable way of helping us out, is simply engaging with our Youtube channel or telling people about our work. It might seem like a small thing, but it really makes a difference for us.

How can I contribute to Mossy Earth's work?

In addition to providing transparency about our work and impact as a whole, we also keep members updated on their individual impact. In the membership account, individuals and businesses can find information about the types of ecosystems and species their contributions have supported, as well as updates about what costs and project actions their contributions are funding.

How will I know how my contribution is used?

As a member, you can make one-time contributions to specific projects whenever you like in the Fund Extra tab in your account.

Having our membership as our main source of funding allows us to most efficiently manage our projects and have a greater impact on nature, which is why we don't offer the option for one-time contributions or contributions to specific projects outside of our membership.

Where can I buy a Mossy Earth t-shirt or other merchandise?

All payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. without your full bank details being shared with us. Direct debit has the lowest transaction fees, while cards and digital wallets have higher fees (AMEX being the most expensive).

We support payments in GBP, EUR and USD, so if you use another currency you can select one of the three and pay with either card, Google Pay, Apple Pay or Link. The exchange rate and possible conversion fees will depend on your bank.

You can pay using a credit card, debit card, prepaid card or virtual card that is enabled for international online payments.

When paying with direct debit you authorise the payments to be automatically withdrawn directly from your bank account on a recurring basis. You can cancel it anytime either with us or through your bank.

We support:
GBP - BACS direct debit
EUR - SEPA direct debit (available for all European bank accounts)
USD - ACH direct debit

Google Pay, Apple Pay, Link and Revolut are digital wallets that let you pay without needing to enter your card details, as the payment is processed through the wallet using the linked card. Revolut is supported only for payments in GBP.

In addition to these, you can also use Cartes Bancaires, Bancontact, EPS, giropay, iDEAL, Przelewy24 (P24), Sofort or TWINT when paying for a gift membership, course or fund extra contribution.

All payment methods come at a cost, which means that the funds we receive aren't equal to what our members pay.
